Documentation

Domestic flights

On domestic flights, the following original documentation is required: a veterinary certificate, a health certificate (valid for 10 days after the date of issuance), and vaccination records (mandatory for animals three months old and older). This service is available to both individuals and businesses.

Flights to Fernando de Noronha: passengers must request prior authorization from the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago Administration by calling +55 81 3619-0810, according to DISTRICT DECREE No. 019/2004 issued by the Fernando de Noronha Department of Environment and Tourism.

Flights to Carajás: passengers must request an authorization from the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) at the ICMBio Office in Parauapebas, which is located at Rua J, 202 Bairro União. Parauapebas, Pará, CEP 68515-000, and submit the following original documents: the official photo ID of the ticketholder, the animal's health certificate issued by a veterinarian and the animal's vaccination records.

International flights

The documentation required for international flights varies depending on the destination country. To learn which documents are required by the country you are traveling to, please go to the website of the Ministry of Agriculture or ask the consulate of the country to which you are traveling.

Gollog does not provide international cargo shipping services to individuals. In order for individuals to ship internationally, they must first contract a freight forwarder or a customs broker who is recognized by Brazil's Internal Revenue Service (Receita Federal). For more information, please contact the Gollog Customer Service Center at 0300-101-2001.

The required documents include:

  • Up-to-date vaccination card signed by a veterinarian, listing a rabies vaccine and including the label of the vaccine with information about the production laboratory, the type of vaccine used and the number of the ampoule used.**
  • The rabies vaccine is required for animals over 90 days old. The vaccine must have been given more than 30 days and less than one year before the boarding date.
  • The International Zoosanitary Certificate (CZI), issued free of charge by offices of the International Agricultural Surveillance System of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply at international airports, is meant to assure that the health requirements for the international shipping of live animals are being met up to the time of arrival at the country of destination. The expiration date of this document will depend on the rules of each country. In São Paulo, the CZI may be obtained at Guarulhos International Airport (Ministry of Agriculture Sector, Animal Health Service). Phone number: +55 11 2445-3683.
  • A Pet Travel Passport is an official document issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) that is used for transporting dogs and cats domestically or internationally. This passport makes it easier to clear dogs and cats through inspection when traveling internationally. It brings together a series of documents and information required by different destinations and can be used when traveling to any of the countries that accept it. For more information on the Pet Passport, please go to the website of Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture.
  • Health certificate issued by a veterinarian that includes the animal’s breed, name, origin, pedigree (if any), general health condition and the owner’s full legal name.
General recommendations

See below some recommendations for the transportation of every type of live animal (AVIH). Do not forget to check the specific rules for the chosen service and the required documentation.

About pet carriers for live animals:

  • For your animal’s well-being, the carrier’s internal dimensions must be adequate for the size of the animal and allow the animal to position itself comfortably without injuring itself;
  • If the carrier is a rigid carrier, it must be made of fiberglass or stiff plastic and must prevent the animal from escaping. Kennels made of wood, straw or any other materials will not be accepted for transporting animals;
  • The carrier must have small lateral openings for air to circulate;
  • The carrier must have locking mechanisms that prevent the carrier from accidentally being opened from the inside or the outside;
  • The floor of the carrier must be lined with a material that contains or absorbs the animal’s urine and feces, in order to avoid leakage during transportation;
  • The carrier must be labeled with the customer’s name, address and phone number;
  • The carrier must be completely clean, disinfected and sterilized when GOL receives it, in order to prevent the animal or third parties from contracting any illness;
  • We recommend that the animal not be sedated. Additionally, the animal should be clean and healthy;
  • The entire front part of the carrier must be closed with a grate or net. The carrier must have ventilation holes only at the upper part of the back and sides. These holes must be at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) in diameter and are meant to allow for the circulation of air.

* GOL does not transport short-nosed (brachycephalic) cat or dog breeds in the cargo hold due to the characteristics of their respiratory systems. Please check with your veterinarian whether your pet fits into this category to ensure its comfort and safety during transport.
** We do not accept proofs of vaccination from mass vaccination campaigns because this type of certificate does not include the contents of the vaccine nor a veterinarian’s stamp and signature.
